Pro-Ject Debut Evo 2

The Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2 is a premium manual belt-drive HiFi turntable designed as an ideal first step into high-end vinyl playback. Building on the success of Pro-Ject’s long-running Debut range, the EVO 2 combines a precision belt-drive system, heavy damped aluminium platter, carbon fibre tonearm and factory-fitted moving-magnet cartridge to deliver detailed, engaging vinyl performance straight out of the box.

The Debut EVO 2 features an 8.6-inch one-piece carbon fibre tonearm, combining low weight with excellent rigidity to help minimise unwanted resonance and accurately track the record groove. The tonearm is mounted in a substantial CNC-machined aluminium bearing block with low-friction bearings and comes factory-fitted with the Pro-Ject Pick it MM EVO moving-magnet cartridge, developed in collaboration with Ortofon and specifically matched to the turntable.

Its electronically controlled sub-platter belt-drive system uses an AC motor decoupled from the chassis with TPE damping, helping reduce the transfer of motor vibration into the record and cartridge. Electronic switching provides convenient selection between 33 and 45 RPM, while 78 RPM playback can be achieved using an optional pulley and drive belt. A substantial 1.7kg die-cast aluminium platter with TPE damping provides a stable, anti-magnetic platform with reduced resonance, while also making the turntable suitable for future moving-coil cartridge upgrades.

The precision-machined MDF plinth, recessed RCA junction box and three height-adjustable metal isolation feet further help control unwanted vibration throughout the turntable. Supplied with a removable dust cover, felt platter mat and semi-balanced Connect it E Phono RCA cable, the Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2 offers an excellent combination of premium engineering, straightforward setup and upgrade potential for anyone building a serious vinyl HiFi system.
