KEF Reference 4 Meta Centre Speaker

The KEF Reference 4 Meta is a flagship three-way centre channel speaker engineered for reference-quality home cinema and surround sound systems. Designed, engineered and handcrafted in Maidstone, Kent, the Reference 4 Meta delivers exceptional dialogue clarity, precise imaging and powerful cinematic dynamics. It can also be used as a Left-Centre-Right (LCR) speaker, making it a highly capable choice for premium home cinemas where consistent performance across the entire front soundstage is essential.

At the heart of the Reference 4 Meta is KEF's 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™). The array combines a 125mm aluminium midrange cone with a centrally positioned 25mm aluminium dome tweeter, allowing sound to disperse more evenly throughout the room. This helps dialogue, vocals and effects remain detailed and precisely positioned across a wider seating area, while MAT™ absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from behind the tweeter to reduce distortion and produce a cleaner, more natural presentation.

Four dedicated 165mm (6.5-inch) aluminium bass drivers provide the scale, impact and low-frequency authority required for demanding movie soundtracks. KEF's Flexible Port Technology allows bass performance to be fine-tuned for different room layouts and speaker positions, while Shadow Flare, computer-modelled cabinet construction and Constrained Layer Damping help minimise diffraction and unwanted cabinet vibration. The result is a powerful centre speaker capable of reproducing everything from subtle dialogue to large-scale cinematic effects with exceptional control and accuracy.

With a 48Hz–35kHz frequency response, 88dB sensitivity, maximum output of 116dB and recommended amplifier power of 50–400W, the KEF Reference 4 Meta is built for uncompromising home cinema performance. Whether used as a dedicated centre channel or as part of a matching Reference LCR configuration, it combines outstanding vocal intelligibility, wide dispersion and impressive dynamic capability with the craftsmanship expected from KEF's flagship Reference Series.
