The KEF R8 Meta is a premium Dolby Atmos-enabled surround speaker designed to bring immersive three-dimensional sound to high-performance home cinema and surround sound systems. Part of KEF's acclaimed R Series, the R8 Meta offers exceptional installation flexibility, functioning as an up-firing Dolby Atmos height speaker, a wall-mounted surround speaker or a rear surround speaker. This makes it an ideal solution for creating immersive cinema sound without requiring dedicated in-ceiling speakers or extensive custom installation.

At the heart of the R8 Meta is KEF's 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™). The array combines a 130mm (5.25-inch) aluminium mid/bass driver with a centrally positioned 25mm vented aluminium dome tweeter, allowing sound to behave more like a single point source and disperse evenly throughout the listening space. MAT™ absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from behind the driver, helping reduce distortion and deliver cleaner, more natural detail throughout movie soundtracks, music and effects.

For Dolby Atmos home cinema, the R8 Meta can be positioned on top of compatible front or rear speakers, directing sound upwards so that it reflects from the ceiling towards the listening position. This creates convincing overhead effects and adds height to the soundstage without installing speakers into the ceiling. Alternatively, its integrated wall-mounting system allows the R8 Meta to be installed as a dedicated surround or rear speaker, providing greater flexibility when designing a premium multi-channel home cinema system.

With a two-way closed-box design, 85dB sensitivity, maximum output of 106dB and recommended amplifier power of 25–150W, the KEF R8 Meta is engineered to integrate seamlessly with other R Series loudspeakers. Whether used to add Dolby Atmos height channels to an existing system or as discreet wall-mounted surrounds, the R8 Meta combines KEF's advanced acoustic technology with versatile placement options for an immersive and precisely detailed home cinema experience.
