KEF Ci160QR In-Ceiling Speaker

The KEF Ci160QR is a premium 6.5-inch in-ceiling architectural speaker designed to deliver clear, detailed and evenly distributed sound while remaining discreet within the room. Part of KEF’s Ci-Q Series, it combines the company’s signature Uni-Q® driver technology with an Ultra Thin Bezel (UTB™) design, making it ideal for whole-home audio, multi-room music and custom home cinema installations.

At the heart of the Ci160QR is KEF’s 160mm (6.5-inch) Uni-Q® driver array, which positions a 19mm (0.75-inch) aluminium dome tweeter at the acoustic centre of the bass/midrange driver. This arrangement allows the drivers to behave more like a single point source, spreading sound widely and evenly throughout the listening area. KEF’s Tangerine Waveguide further assists high-frequency dispersion, helping provide consistent clarity even when listeners are positioned away from the centre of the room.

With a frequency response of 38Hz–34kHz, 89dB sensitivity and recommended amplifier power of 10–125W, the Ci160QR offers impressive performance from a relatively compact architectural speaker. Its open-backed design allows it to utilise the ceiling cavity, while gold-plated spring-loaded binding posts provide a secure connection for professionally installed speaker cabling.

The KEF Ci160QR is particularly well suited to discreet stereo and distributed audio systems, as well as surround and Dolby Atmos home cinema installations where ceiling speakers are required. Its narrow visible rim helps the speaker blend naturally into the ceiling, while optional KEF rough-in frames and rear enclosures provide additional flexibility when planning new-build, renovation and custom installation projects.
